Style,
The internet is the best resource, however any reputable breeder won't sell to just anybody. Tim Cole is a wonderful resource, he is a breeder. We have purchased our collection from various places, mostly from Eric from pets A plenty and Tim Cole.
If you live in the City of Houston, you cannot keep hots....
If you want to meet some "hot Breeders" you might try the San Antonio Expo.
The Venom Center, TRR and Kingsnake are the best internet sites for information Venomous.org and the yahoo group SHHS, If I have all those link here.
What information are you looking for? I could probably recommend someone.

i am actually outside the city limits right now, but i am not looking to purchase a hot for a while, probably another year or so, possibly more, i am just looking for information on keeping, housing, and reputable breeders...i am more so looking for information on bush vipers, eyelash vipers, and other aboral vipers..
and does pets a plenty actually sell hots? ive been in the green room a couple times, so im assuming they could get some but are they allowed to sell them?

We have purchased from Eric but, I see him refuse to sell to more people than he sells too. He is very picky who he deals with and for good reason, I respect him greatly.
WHen you are considering keeping Hots...alot of research and a personal mentor is a must.
In my opinion..you volunteer to work with someone (free) and learn has much has you can before taking the responsibity of owning one. Not only your life but the lives of others may depend on your choices..
Don't get me wrong..It's a wonderful hobby, it just takes some time to get into it the right way.
I do think you doing the right thing by asking questions. Get to Know Eric, he is one of the best guy for mentoring in the Houston Area.
I am also not sure how old you are but, being over 18 is a must...
Aboral vipers are among the hardest to keep, they don't drink like other snakes, we have to supply water through a tube directly into there mouths daily...
I would diffinatley recommend getting an amazon tree boa to practice with, their care is similar but, if you get tagged it's not has toxic *winks*
Be prepared to get a permit too..after April we will alll be required to have a permit for Hots and the 5 large constrictors..you can read more about that in the laws forum of this website.
I have a book on Aboral vipers..I'll look for it and post the name and author, we bought it on Amazon.com and it's a great reference guide for them..

i have read that tree vipers dont drink from bowls, but will "lap" water up off of their scales and leaves in their cages...i already have a reticulated python, so i would have to go with the permit thing reguardless.
i am over 18, so that isnt really an issue, it will be a long while before i buy one anyway, i am more so curious because of boredom...
