I have been field herping in houston for about 12 years, Ive caught many many many copperheads, cottonmouths, and coral snakes, but still to this day I cannot find a rattler. Any tips on where to search, what time of day, etc etc?!?

I don't know of any wild rattlesnakes in the houston area, going West you will find plenty..

Yep, I think I may be riding with a friend to lubbock, I told him as long as we can stop to look for snakes I would go! ;D

Head towards the beach and check the salt grass.... Can't belive there isn't always a HUGE influx of Snake Bites from the beach areas during beach season.....
Usually only two types of snakes towards the beach... Speckeled Kings and Western's.....

Probably going to find the majority of the rattler's are going to be more towards the quintanna beach than surfside.
But there are ALOT of spec kings in the area as well. As noted before, they really help control the population.
