Curious as to how often is normal for my python to shed?? He just shed about two weeks ago, but for the last two nights I have noticed him soaking ALOT, like he is getting ready to again. I went to get him out to see if he had a pink belly an I SWEAR I heard him hiss at me! Do they hiss?? Needless to say, I could tell he didn't want to be bothered so I let him be! Could he maybe just be shedding again so soon due to inproper care in the past?? Maybe a bad shed? Or do they just shed this often?

It depends on how old yours is. I have heard that young snakes can shed around every 4-6 weeks, while adults may only shed a few times per year.

Pythons hiss all the time. Mine do...I think of it like a dog barking, sometimes it means something...sometimes it does not. Mostly I think it's the pythons way of saying "I am here" We have snake that shed once a month...The younger ones shed often..it seems they grow eveytime they eat..everytime they grow thye shed. Kinda like a young child and shoes LOL! As soon as you buy a baby a pair, it changes sizes again!

i have a 6ft redtail boa and she hisses at me alot, usually after she eats or sheds, or if its early in the morning. but its LOUD you can hear it throughout the whole house pretty much, but i take her out regardless. once she's out she's fine. i think its like a kid, sometimes they want to be held, and sometimes they dont but they get over it.

I use to have a female burmese that did that when I didnt take her out the cage or when I gave her a dumbo rat instead of a rabbit. lol
