After having operated “The Venomous Snakes of Texas” web site for 10 years, we found the site growing to include material that went far beyond the site’s original scope. As a result, in early 2007 the “Southwestern Center for Herpetological Research” came into being provide a regional repository of information about the snakes, lizards, turtles, crocodilians, and amphibians of the American Southwest relating to their natural history, conservation, biology, taxonomy, field studies, field collecting, husbandry, and captive breeding.
The “Southwestern Center for Herpetological Research” web site was launched on February 13, 2007 and while some sections of the site are still in the works, overall development is moving ahead on schedule.
We would like to invite you to visit the “Southwestern Center for Herpetological Research” web site at www.southwesternherp.com/ and check us out. We are still young with a lot of growth and hard work ahead of us. We would like to encourage you to become a contributing part of this new herpetological Internet-based venture. If you work with the herpetofauna of the American Southwest, we invite you to submit articles and papers for publication. We also have a steady demand for photographic images of southwestern species and have launched a program to recognize the excellent herpetological photographers that we have in our community.
Additionally, if you operate a web site we would ask you to consider linking to us, if you feel such a link would be appropriate.
We look forward to your participation in this new herpetological community and welcome your comments and suggestions.
Sincerely,
Gerald and Susan Keown
