Dear GCTTS Members and Friends,

Upcoming GCTTS Program:
Turtles of the World
and Hibernation Workshop
October 14, 2007
Houston Arboretum and Nature Center
2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
The Gulf Coast Turtle & Tortoise Society is inviting all members and
other turtle and tortoise enthusiasts to bring your favorite turtle or
tortoise to display as we prepare to exhibit turtles and tortoises from
around the world as part of our program on Sunday, October 14, 2007
from
2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center.
Everyone is welcome to bring a turtle or tortoise to display, but
please
have them in adequate containers (with a lid!) to prevent stress to the
animals and bites to the humans. Please let us know by Friday, October
12, 2007 via e-mail at info-L@gctts.org, or you may call our toll-free
number 866-99-GCTTS if you plan to bring a chelonian.
In addition to our turtle and tortoise exhibit, we will have
educational
material available and everyone is invited to attend and socialize.
The Houston Arboretum and Nature Center is located at 4501 Woodway,
just
inside Loop 610 West of downtown Houston, near the Galleria. Our
program, part of the Arboretum's Urban Nature Series, will take place
in
Rooms A and B.
Our speaker for this event will be GCTTS Director, Anita Peddicord, who
is a Texas Permitted Wildlife Rehabilitator specializing in turtles.
Ms. Peddicord will discuss illnesses, injuries and hibernation relative
to turtles. A slide presentation will be featured as part of this
discussion.
If you have not yet attended one of our programs, please consider
coming
to this one as a first. We welcome your participation and look forward
to meeting you. We would like to have a good selection of native and
exotic turtles and tortoises at the program. Remember that all GCTTS
programs are free and open to the public.
I hope to see you there!
