Wheres the invert keepers at? Get off your web and come join the post. Were blessed with (not sure if im really a blessing or a liability) some really knowledgeable invert keepers on this list. If youre looking at getting a first Trantula or Scorpion (surprise me ith some other 'verts) or maybe want info on the one you have ask away. I realize keeping inverts is still very new compared to snake keeping in the mainstream and theres lots of questions about them.
Let me know what ya have and what you are looking to get. Hopefully this list will one day serve to help get some local Tarantula males around so they might be able to live out their final days passing out their genes. Hey we could grow that big! If you know of anyone that keeps T's or scorps locally, let them know this forum exists. Its time for a place for the local invert community to chat.

I'll shoot an email to some of the other Houston invert people. That B. jacksoni hoax was just plain mean.

not a hoax. just wasnt open to anyone as a first scorpion. still open but ya gotta come by to get one and spend some time invert gabbing. hopefully ill be doing some major scorpling purchasing this year if people start posting them on arachnoboards. i havent seen anyone posting anything but Ts for a while and miscellaneous adults. I buy almost everything in lots of 5 or 10 rather than single adults.

So you were serious about selling B. jacksoni 2nd instars for $5 each? Nice deal and I'd have to pick you up on it if I hadn't already spent my money on an unexpected gift.
Do any of y'all go out and look for scorpions, spiders, etc locally? I've been herping with a friend around Katy and we found some L. g. holbrooki. He also said he sees Latrodectus sp. around where we were in the spring time.

Oh when you said it was a teaser, I thought you were just kidding. I'll take some of them, where do you live? I'm getting a bunch of C. vittatus if you wanted to make some trades too.

westheimer and wilcrest area. the thing is though just 1 per person. i didnt want to let them go but its for the good of the board and it gets you guys to crawl out of the woodwork and be known so we can have a local invert community.

Ok, I'm pretty familiar with the area. I've been trying to get something started here for awhile. Maybe even a scorp hunt, C. vittatus can be found over on the west side like near hwy 6.

now that i didnt know. the only place ive ever had a sighting that was confirmed was in kingwood of centruroides vittatus. ive spent many hours looking for them in bear creek park off hwy 6 and also at the reservoir on hwy 6 in the last few years with no luck.
if you have a good lead on an area ill go with ya because i definately want to add harris county to the map of verfied in hand spp of scopions.

Hmmm, Kari McWest said that was right where to look. He is the ATS Senior Editor. These were his exact words:
Your best bet would probably be out in west Houston, Highway 6/Memorial, Park Ten area, the Barker "reservoir" is prime habitat. Also Conroe area, should be plentiful, ask around, especially pest control operators. Of course, the Austin area, especilly Highland Lakes, Marble Falls, Burnet, Llano, Fredericksburg, great for this species!
