SPRING FIELD MEET AND CAMPING TRIP APRIL 27,28,29 The East Texas Herpetological Society is gearing up for our annual spring field meet/camping trip. This year we will visit one of the best all around herping destinations in East Texas on the Gus Engeling Wildlife Management Area. The GEWMA is home to a large variety of wildlife including several species of herps. Located on 10,000 plus acres of land the GEWMA will allow us endless habitat to search for herps of all shapes and sizes. Since we are an organized group, they will waive the $12 limited use fee and the $48 annual public hunting permit. Along with this generous benefit they will provide a campground consisting of 8 pull-in campsites with tables, fire pits, and grills. This camping area also has a male and female restroom including showers for both sexes. If this area becomes overcrowded or the weather is bad, we have access to three 24 x 12 screened covered shelters. The good folks at GEWMA have provided this free of charge, a huge benefit and a deal we are not likely to find in other camping situations. This camping area will be open to us from early afternoon on the 27th of April until early afternoon on the 29th of April. Further details will be provided through email, phone, and snail mail.
