March General Meeting: March 16,7:30 Chris Dieter on Nile Crocodiles
Nile Crocodiles in Texas: Living with and Caring for the World's Most Storied Saurian.
The Nile crocodile is perhaps the worlds most storied animal let alone reptile. One of the worlds largest reptiles, the Nile crocodile presents unique challenges when kept as a captive outside if it's native Africa. This eons old species is as magnificent and awe inspiring as it is dangerous. Chris Dieter is the author of two books on crocodilian care as well as numerous articles on the captive care of crocodilians. In researching his books he has viewed many private and public crocodilian facilities in the United States and been a consultant to various crocodilian facilities. Chris and his wife Bernadette maintain the largest group of Nile crocodiles outside the state of Florida in Angleton, Texas. The talk will center on the care, maintenance, and biology of a large group of Nile crocodiles and will present applicable information for those who keep crocodilians or those with an interest in keeping any large reptile species.
WHEN:
bi-monthly on the third friday of odd numbered months starting around 7:30. Refreshments will be provided.
